The scheme is primarily meant for those Ex-Servicemen (ESM) who could not avail the facility of resettlement training while in service and is extended to the widow or one dependent of an ESM irrespective of whether his death is attributable to military service or not. ESM would be eligible to undergo training up to five years from the date of retirement/release or 60 years of age whichever is earlier. MoD has accorded sanction for conduct of 67 Resettlement Training Courses, as under, covering diverse fields for Ex-Servicemen vide Govt of India, Ministry of Defence vide letter No.0014/ExSM/DGR/RES-8/II/D(Res) dated 18 may 2006. ESM training is organized at various institutes empanelled by the ZSBs/RSBs and approved by DGR. The course is free of cost for the ESM and a stipend of Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) per month is paid to each trainee when the ESM attends training at a place other than his place (city/town) of residence. Vide MoD ID No.PC to MF 0014/BOO/DGR/Res-8 dated 28.09.2011, MoD has approved that ESM can also apply for regular courses planned at Institutes by DGR, subject to availability of vacancies in undersubscribed courses.
