Background
The Armed Forces personnel, by virtue of their work style, are physically fit. Even after their retirement, most of them continue to be engaged in physically challenging activities/work. However some of them may unfortunately become handicapped due to accident etc. after their retirement and may require mobility equipment such as modified scooter, crutches, wheel chair etc.
Present Scheme
The rate of assistance is limited to a maximum of Rs. 1,00,000/-per ESM of all ranks. Financial assistance for procurement of modified scooter is only for those ESM, who are disabled after their retirement from service with disability of 50% or more. This is being provided as a one time assistance. No renewal or re issue is being done.
